Family Matters at the Rock

Family Matters acknowledges that dificulties and crises can emerge within the course of every couple and family's life cycle. Family Matters believes that a family is any grouping that calls itself a 'family'.

Couple and Family Therapy

Many people seek therapy after finding that their relationships have become painful, unhappy or even destructive.  Couple and family therapy addresses relationships dynamics within a safe and confidential setting.

It explores ways of balancing demands between past and future, acceptance and challenge, stability and change and aims to explore issues that affect couples or families by creating environments which help people to help themselves.  Psychodynamic, systemic and solution focussed models of therapy are available.

Please note that the clinic is unable to offer appropriate facilities for toddlers and young children to attend sessions

What we are offering:

  • Couple therapy
  • Family therapy for adults and children over 10 years old
  • Family therapy for new parents attending with their baby (or babies)

Who is the therapy with?

Therapists experienced in working with couples and families on a range of issues which may include:

Challenging behaviours; anger and violence; trauma; abuse; supporting parents; boundaries; domestic abuse; family identity and same sex parenting; eating disorders; Looked After Children including adoption.

To find out more, please contact us to book an assessment session.  The assessment is an information gathering session/screening interview so at this stage it would not be necessary for all family members to attend and will be with one of our couple or family therapists.

Following the assessment interview we will then arrange ongoing sessions with your therapist.  The first session will be the real assessment of the family dynamics and children of 10 years and over in the family group would be invited to attend.

Please complete the Initial interview form and either send to east@rockclinic.org.uk or west@rockclinic.org.uk depending on your booked venue. If you are unable to download or do not have a printer please ensure you arrive 30 minutes early to complete.
