“There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” Nelson Mandela
As part of the 'talking therapies' counselling is a well established way of beginning to tackle problems or unravel past conflicts. At the Rock Clinic this is based on the principles of psychoanalysis and associated psychological theories. Counselling is not advice giving, but aims to encourage an exploration of difficulties in order to uncover any root causes and identify particular ways thinking.
Counselling allows people to discuss their concerns in a safe and confidential setting and the process then helps them to make changes in their lives or simply explore thoughts and feelings in greater depth. Counselling may then help consider ideas to reconcile and resolve difficulties or find better ways of coping
Counselling is not formulaic and each session is generally tailored to the individual and to the specific circumstances of what is happening: psychodynamic, humanistic, gestalt, existential and TA models of therapy are available.
